Dissemination is of strategic importance to introduce state of the art grid technologies and services to the EUMEDGRID community.
Within the framework of WP5, a number of measures are undertaken in order to:

  • Disseminate knowledge to communities which have already shown interest in Grids for their applications (i.e. the pilot communities already contacted and the ones individuated by WP2).
  • Disseminate Grid achievements and benefits to a wider audience, in order to attract new scientific communities.
  • Create a human network in the Area to spread both Grid awareness and know-how among Mediterranean researchers.

Within the scope of A5.2 (Outreach) high-level expertise is delivered to the EUMEDGRID users in order to support them through using and deploying their own applications on the pilot infrastructure. One of the main tools to accomplish such objectives are face-to-face and distant tutorials.

During the first year, first tutorials were held in Athens, Istanbul, Rome, Tunis and Morocco. The results of the first experiences are shown in the graphics below:

HIGHLIGHTS

The EUMEDGRID project officially ended on 29 February 2008 after 26 months of activity and got successfully through its final review on 6 May 2008.

However, the pilot infrastructure is up and EUMEDGRID applications are still supported. The project consortium is planning further activities.
