30-31 March 2010

Conference on e-Infrastructures across the Mediterranean
Brussels, Belgium

Following successful editions in 2007 in Brussels and in 2008 in Amman respectively, at the request of the Mediterranean research and education networks (NRENs) a 3rd EU-Med event on e-Infrastructures (EU-Med 3) is to take place. It marks a return to Europe, and will be held in Brussels. The event will start in the evening of 30 March 2010 with the main programme taking place on 31 March 2010.

EU-Med 3 will build on the policy discussions of previous events by bringing together senior stakeholders from Europe, the southern Mediterranean rim and the Middle East as well as experts to discuss collaborations in e-Infrastructures and networking for research and education.

The programme features presentations by experts who will provide insights into the status and perspectives of e-infrastructures in the Mediterranean. It also includes interactive sessions that give ample space to the voice and experience of members of the user community. Finally, it will provide an opportunity to explore longer-term stability and sustainability options of regional e-Infrastructures, specifically the research and education network EUMEDCONNECT2 and the grid computing project EUMEDGRID, discuss network extension to neighbouring countries and examine future funding and management structures for the network. including the development of the CAMREN regional consortium.

Participants

Following the success of the previous EU-Med events, this conference brings together invited policy makers and civil servants from relevant ministries and institutions, executives and officials from international organisations such as the European Commission, the Arab League, UN agencies, private companies and foundations, as well as representatives from the user community.
