EUMEDGRID 1st School for Application Porting (EGSAP-1)

EGSAP-1 - the 1st EUMEDGRID School on Application Porting

The First EUMedGrid School for Application Porting (EGSAP-1) aims to create the necessary knowledge for the porting of new applications to the EUMedGrid Pilot Testbed. To fulfill this goal, the EGSAP-1 programme, based both on lectures and hands-on practices, will cover in-depth the main topics of grid technology, as well as the EGEE/EUMedGrid middleware technicalities. The target audience will consist of researchers from EUMedGrid partners, technical industries, research laboratories and academic universes. The School is mainly intended for EUMedGrid members but is widely opened to everybody. In order to maximise the didactic impact and effectiveness, the number of applications to be ported will be limited to 8-10.

Any application candidature must be submitted to the Selection Board of the School before the 11th of March 2007. Only one application per team can be submitted. Each application team should fill in the questionnaire available at the URL https://secure.um.edu.mt/eumedgrid/questionnaire/wp4/, describing the application they want to port on the EUMedGrid e-Infrastructure. In the text area for comments available at the end of the questionnaire, please write "Application for EGSAP-1". In addition to the questionnaire, at least one recommendation letter per application should be sent by email to egsap1@eumedgrid.org by a senior representative of the group proposing the application. The recommendation letter can be written either in English or in French. The Selection Board will rank both applications and persons for final approval by the EUMedGrid Technical Board.

Candidates who have followed at least one of the previous EUMedGrid Tutorials or an official training event of any other accredited Grid Project will be preferentially selected. However, candidates who can demonstrate notorious knowledge in the field will also be considered. Accepted candidates will be notified by the 18th of March 2007 and invited to fill the registration form online.
